Toki Pack Bear hunt with the sphinxes

Kellan ran along side his twin brother Finn as they raced through the woods towards the pack house. The pack house was more or less a glorified barn that a man named Travis Cochrane had built for Remington and his toki pack in thanks for choosing his place to live at and bringing in pelts, fish and any found items to be turned in for money so that Travis could feed and house not only them but the rest of his tokotas. Though Remington and his toki pack were completely wild and never ate tokota kibble with the tamed tokotas that lived on Travis's property, and they've never ever let Travis or any other human come anywhere near them. The way that the tokis saw it was that they enjoyed being able wild and free and on their own terms but also in the lap of luxury. Why not right?

In his haste to tell Remington what they came across in the woods Kellan and Finn did not see the two sphinxes that were laying on the ground outside the barn and trampled right over them. When the sphinxes stood up and the sphinx pair towered over Kellan and Finn's medium sized toki height Kellan's first thought was 'Oh shit!', and the fact that the dark male sphinx had a missing ear and facial scars totally did not help. Poor Finn looked terrified and cowered behind his twin.

Karvas was laying peacefully in the snow on his side and chillin' with the lovely Rausku when suddenly he was trampled on by 8 black toki feet, and one toki foot even stepped on his eye. Karvas jumped up and growled angrily, ready to tear the tokis who's bodies the trampling feet belonged to when he noticed that the black tokis each had on Remington's signature pawprint tatts on their shoulders, signifying that they were part of Remington's pack. Instead of attacking them and disrespecting Remington Karvas merely grumbled out a "Watch where you are going next time!" instead. Rausku had merely yelped then gave the toki brothers a quiet look of distain.

When the sphinxes did not attack Kellan and Finn both visibly relaxed. "We're so sorry man." Kellan apologized to Karvas, then craned his head and looked over at Rausku, he couldn't tell the light colored one's gender so merely said, "So sorry." Finn remained silent and let his brother do the talking for him, he didn't speak much due to his shyness unless spoken to directly, though he was a little more outgoing with his packmates. Finn then followed his twin into the barn.

"Yo, Remy.... you around?" Kellan called out as he moved through the barn.

"I'm in the storage room Kellan!" Remington called out.

"Rem, did you know there are two sphinxes hanging outside the barn?" Finn said to his alpha once they reached him.

"Oh snap! They here already? Finn, have Ash go out and entertain them for me yeah?" Remington responded, though did not look up from what he was doing. Remington was busy rearranging things into a more organized fashion inside the storage room, often times when Remington couldn't be found he was in the storage room; if he were human this room would be like his office. Kellan chuckled to himself as he imagined a desk in there with Remington sitting behind it in one of those big leather office chairs. 

When Finn hurried off to go search for Ash, Kellan moved closer to Remington and said, "Remy, Finn and I spotted a bunch of bears near the river, looked like they were fishing." 

"Bears? That's great! Those sphinxes out front are here to go on a hunt with Ash and I. Bears would be perfect. Want to come with us? We could surely use your expertise and you can show us where the bears are." Remington said with a smile as he turned around to face Kellan.

"Actually, I would love to. My Wolverine and Mountain Lion need to go on more hunts with us and get used to hunting with me. Thanks Remy." Kellan beamed excitedly. 

"Sounds good Kellan, go get yourself ready and meet us out front when you are ready to go." Remington said as he turned to go meet the sphinxes.

Remington found Ash out front talking to the sphinx pair, apparently from what he could gather the sphinxes were both complaining about being ran over by Kellan and Finn in their haste to get into the barn. Huh. Interesting.

Karvas and Rausku had not met Remington before but had heard of him and they both knew who he was the moment they laid eyes on him. Out of respect both he and Rausku nodded their heads to him. Karvas having a very dominant personality himself, and having heard of how dominant Remington was was still shocked by the waves of dominance that seemed to be wafting off Remington's very skin and protruding outwards from him. It was rare for tokotas to be able to physically feel dominance coming from another tokota like that was rare, but even more rare still for it to be felt so thickly as if you could almost see it if you looked hard enough, the experience was heady and made the air feel around you feel thick like it was harder to breathe around such dominance.

Ash leaned in towards Remington and whispered in his ear, "Pull back on the dominance bro, what are you trying to do? Choke them to death with it?"

Oh shit! Remington hadn't noticed that he was projecting so badly and pulls back the dominance shit a bit. He tilts his head at the sphinx male as he studies him, he figured that it may have been the male's own dominance that he was reacting to. 

"I'm Remington, and I see you already met Ash. Kellan just came in and told me he scented bears by the river. Are you two willing to go hunt some bears?" Remington asked the pair and gave them each a friendly smile.

Karvas has the sudden urge to pounce on Remington and force him to his back and to submit but quells the urge. He straightens himself out and introduces himself and his packmate. "Good to finally meet you Remington. I am Karvas and this is Rausku. I am rather good at hunting bears and had hoped you might be interested in going on a bear hunt, but when I heard that you and your entire pack were tokis, well I thought that maybe you and your pack did not do bear hunts." Karvas confessed looking a bit sheepish before eyeing Ash again.

"But now that I look at you and some of your pack, I can see that you guys can totally handle bears. Please forgive me for my mistake, I had not met a toki of such size before." He says to Remington though the last part if directed at Ash.

Ash smirks at Karvas. Ash opens his mouth to respond but at that exact moment Kellan emerges from the barn, so he closes his mouth and silently watches knowing that Remington will be fixing to go over how the hunt will go.

"I assure you Karvas, no offense taken. Many tokotas think the same thing when they hear that we are all tokis." He smiles then continues. "Ahh Kellan, there you are. Is everyone ready to get this hunt underway?" He asks and when everyone nods he says, "Great, here is how we do our hunting, it has worked very well for us in the past. In my pack we send the smallest one in to fish the bears out of the den, but since Kellan said the bears are out in the open we can skip that part and send in the soldiers, these are the ones that will initiate the attack on the bears then drive them down stream towards the waterfall where they will be boxed in by the high canyon walls and the enforcers who will be hidden in the shadows will be on either side and one in the back so as to cut off any escape routes the bears might try to take. What we've discovered is the lighter colored tokotas in the group make the best soldiers and the darker tokotas make the best enforcers due to the fact that they can blend into the shadows and the prey doesn't even know they are there until the last moment. Kellan you will be the right enforcer, and Karvas you will take the left while Ash brings up the rear. Rausku and I will be the soldiers. Does anyone have any questions?" Remington asks after giving out his strategy plan. 

Rausku shakes her head, her job is pretty straight forwards she thinks. Go in with Remington and attack the bears and then chase them downstream. Got it.

"So I will run along on the outside of the group in the shadows and head off any bears that run in my direction and chase them back to the middle yes?" Karvas asks.

"Yes, and Kellan will do the same on the right and Ash the same in the back. Everyone got it then? Lets head out, Kellan you lead the way and show us the bears then once they are spotted you will drop back with Ash and Karvas while Rausku and I initiate the attack." Remington tells the smaller black toki.

Kellan nods at his alpha then leads the way towards the river.

When they reached the river the bears were thankfully still there fishing and if anything even more bears had come to join in. Perfect! Everyone knew what to do and Kellan disappeared into the shadows of the trees to the right of the group along with his wolverine and mountain lions companions, both of which were nearly all black as well and easily able to blend into the shadows with him. Karvas and his wolverine companion veered off to the left to lay in wait and Ash hung back. 

Remington nods his head at Rausku to give the go ahead and the hunt is on. Remington basically barrels in on the bears with as the humans say, 'Guns blazing!' but in tokota terms means with a mighty roar, teeth bared and claws and at the ready. Rausku follows suit and after biting a few bears in the butt manages to get them to start running, she can see out of her peripherals, Kellan and Karvas running in at any bears that try to scatter and turning them back towards her and Remington. 

Remington is like a well oiled machine, you can tell he has clearly done this before, he may be smaller then an average sized normal tokota but he's tall for a toki and has the guts and brawn of a dire. His confidence in his abilities and those of his packmates is inspiring, and Rausku thinks that if all tokotas group leaders were to work like Remington does that there would be more successful hunts.

Karvas and his wolverine are then suddenly confronted with a massive angry bruin that will not back down and run back towards the rest of the bears but instead stands his ground and challenges the seasoned Alpha Sphinx. Karvas smirks, he'd hoped that he'd get a chance to make one of the thick headed bears bow down to his will. Karvas's wolverine companion flattens it's ears and growls at the bear before rushing in to attack the bear's left rear leg while Karvas roars back at the bear and charges forward. Karvas gets locked into a bearhug attack with the hefty bruin but is relentless and eventually the bear gives and Karvas is able to get it to turn back to the middle where Remington and Rausku are still herding the bears towards the falls. 

Kellan along with his wolverine and mountain lion are doing a swell job keeping the bears from escaping on the right, between the 3 they are able to cover enough ground and keep things running smooth leaving little for Ash to do, but that is ok. Ash figures he'l get his chance once the bears are fully blocked in.

Rausku sees a mother bear with two small cubs in the group and along with the amount of bears being run towards the falls she feels that the mother and her cubs can be spared so she begins to chase at the mother bear and her cubs and leads them into the woods towards Kellan's direction. Kellan sees the cubs with the mother bear and decides to let Rausku chase the sow and her cubs off and hangs back a bit so as to not get in her way and spook the sow back towards the group. Kellan smiles to himself at Rausku's soft heart, it's not often he gets a chance to hunt with females, but he figures that any female would have done the same.

While Kellan is distracted by Rausku and her kind heart he almost misses the big bruin that tries to escape and turns back to go after it but his wolverine and mountain lion companions get to it first and Kellan smirks proudly at them as the companions are able to get the bear to turn by themselves.

At this point Ash is itching to get involved in the hunt and begins to salivate as he realizes they are nearing the falls. Yes! Finally! As the group slows and begins to crowd in on the trapped bears Ash begins to pace back and forth waiting for his chance. 

Once the bears are fully blocked it it becomes a free for all and each tokota is able to begin engaging their own bears. Remington goes after an old scarred male and is quick to take him down.
